The sword must be repaired. When it has been repaired, you must give it to Blasidar the sculptor so that the model for the giant dwarf statue will look like King Alvin. See our Giant Dwarf quest guide for more information.

Although the sword has a "wield" option, trying to wield it will make your character say "I should be very careful with this battleaxe, it's almost a museum piece! I don't want to damage it by wielding it."
