Slayer level 40 is needed to kill this monster. Also, a mirror shield must be equipped when killing this monster.
The basilisk's max hit is 6, but players with defence 70 or above do not need to bring much food as they do not hit often or hard. If you need food, it might be a good idea to use the Bones to Peaches Magic spell to get some food. Nature and Water runes are common drops, so you will only need Earth runes (or Lava staff, which will also allow you to alch valuable drops).
